The Immaculate Heart Sisters of Africa (IHSA) are a community of Tanzanian nuns who have a history of serving the most marginalized members of their community at large. Primarily located in the region of Lake Victoria, and headquartered in Musoma, the community of over 150 Sisters serves to improves the lives of fellow Tanzanians. They lead and run programs and centers for street children and girls running from child marriage; they educate and nurture deaf and disabled children; they help women get back on their feet after escaping an abusive marriage or dropping out of school from motherhood. They run leading schools and have a presence within communities that everyone else has ignored – the most vulnerable and impoverished. They run health clinics, including a PEPFAR funded HIV/AIDS clinic. They are a remarkable group of dedicated and devoted women and we are proud to be their partners.
In addition to all this, they laugh and sing and dance and pray and give thanks!
